I’m excited to give you 4 things you can do that will help you keep your Las Vegas pool clean and looking awesome.

Tip #1 Water Level
Always make sure you have enough water in your pool that it covers half of the opening to the
skimmer, your pool is a closed system, meaning water and only water should be circulating
through the system when the pump is running, if the pool gets to low and the skimmer starts to
suck air it will cause extreme heat and melt/burn you pumps internal parts. If ever too low just
fill with hose.

Tip #2 Calcium Hardness
Be sure to check your CH levels at the beginning and the end of the pool season. Ideal levels
should be between 150-400 ppm in a plaster or concrete pool and 150-250 in a vinyl pool. If
levels get to high it will cause scaling on your pool and potential corrosion of your pool
plumbing equipment. If levels are too high just partially drain pool water and dilute with hose
water. If too low you may add a Calcium hardness increaser.

Tip #3 Skimming the Surface
If at anytime you see debris floating on the pool surface , use a Net to remove it. This is typically
the skimmers job but it can’t get everything and any organic material in your pool breaks down
into phosphates which become food for Algae! You can check for just phosphates in your pool as
well with test strips. No phosphates no Algae. (Mostly)

Tip #4 Use p.p.e when handling pool chemicals
Most pool chemicals are corrosive and even flammable. You never want to mix chemicals
outside the pool and always wear rubber gloves and eye protection when adding chloride
tabs/granular or muriatic acid. Remember always add chemicals to water never water to
chemicals.
